Got Greenfingers?

i-a3bb2f597c5eaa9fcf161079524c5eb6-alicegreenfingers.jpgI have another game review posted at JayIsGames.com. If you've wondered why I posted lightly over the last week, now you'll understand. Alice Greenfingers sounded interesting at first glance. Just check out the manufacturer's description:

Alice's big dream is to run her own businesss, growing ecological crops and raising healthy animals like in the old days. Her dream is finally coming true as she found the perfect place to rent in the countryside. With the help of a friendly shopkeeper and grandmother's good advice, Alice now begins the hard work of making a living out of growing, harvesting, folling the market trends and selling ripe crops down at the local market.

The game really wasn't very "ecological". That is, it doesn't really have anything to do with ecology. I wouldn't even label it "environmental" or "conservationist" as the game actually rewards you for wasting water. But... when it isn't trying to be something it's not, this game is incredibly fun and addictive. Think SimCity meets Mary, Mary Quite Contrary.

Anyways, if you're looking for a relaxing, casual game to add to your PC or Mac, I would highly recommend Alice Greenfingers. If you'd like to read more about the game, or just want to see how many garden-related puns I can cram into one review, click here.

You’ve probably heard that the Bald Eagle was removed from the endangered species list this week. The announcement was rather timely, allowing the media to paste patriotic eagle pictures all over the place around the Fourth of July. It also came not too long after Rachel Carson’s 100th birthday.…
So, another bit of Cantor stuff. This time, it really isn't Cantor crankery, so much as it is just Cantor muddling. The href="http://rjlipton.wordpress.com/2010/06/11/does-cantors-diagonalization-proof-cheat/">post that provoked this is not, I think, crankery of any kind - but it demonstrates…

Thanks for the comment Steve. I actually wrote in a comment here a few weeks ago asking what was happening with this blog after the announcement that O'Reilly was dropping the Digital Media division. It's really refreshing to get an honest comment on what's happening. I really hope the blog picks up again.
