Meetup in Phoenix

As PZ announced earlier today (as did GrrlScientist), we've firmed up our meetup plans for the SICB conference.

Friday 6th around 6pm, we'll be meeting at Seamus McCaffreys fairly close to the conference hotel. Contrary to PZ's suggestion, I wont be forcing anyone to drink Guinness (the drink is only barely drinkable here in the US) and therefore wont be buying the beer :) PZ's got tenure ... he's probably got more cash than me anyways! We should be easy to spot at the bar - GrrlScientist looks like a lori, I'll have a posse (some luck!),
and PZ will be dressed as his Satanic Majesty (no, not Dawkins), horns and all.

Saturday 7th between 5:30 and 8:00 is the meetup at Jim Lippards house. See here for details and RSVP to Jim. .

Like PZ, I hope to offer some blogging along the way.

I've noted before that the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) will be meeting in Phoenix next week and also that PZ, Grrl Scientist, and I will be participating in a media workshop on blogging. We've decided that this might also be a nice opportunity for Scienceblogs readers to…
So I've mentioned this before, but SICB is almost upon us. I am boarding my plane tomorrow at 630 in the morning (to avoid the NYC morning gridlock) to attend SICB. I should arrive in Phoenix before noon. There will be several get-togethers with our readers that you are invited to attend; Friday…
Attention, Phoenixians (Phoenicians? Phoenotypes? What do they call residents of Phoenix, anyway?). (John Lynch, GrrlScientist, and I are going to be in your area next week for the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) meetings, and we are all unanimous in our expectation that this…
Prepare yourselves, Arizona! John Lynch, GrrlScientist, and I will be wafting into Phoenix tomorrow, and here's a short version of our busy calendar: All week: Science! I'll plan on posting updates about various cool things I learn, as I'm sure my SciBlogs colleagues will also do. Friday, 6ish:…

Wha...? You're not buying? This just isn't right. You're Irish, this is an Irish bar, I think there have to be rules and order to this.

When I visited Ireland, I was just shy of legal drinking age so I've never had a properly poured Guinness. As a result, I've admittedly developed a very indiscriminate palate for the stuff. It doesn't matter to me whether it's in a pint glass or one of those widget-equipped bottles or cans. Hopefully, this predilection won't preclude my posse participation Friday night.
