Two Neuroscience Carnivals

Two new neuroscience carnivals are starting up at the same time. First, there's the one initiated by Science Bloggers, called "The Synapse," which you can read about here. The first edition is scheduled for June 25. The second, initiated by The Neurophilosopher, is called "Encephalon" and has its own webpage here. Its first edition will be posted on July 1. They both seem to have been created independently on the same day. What are the odds of that?

At first, I wondered about the wisdom of having two carnivals on the same subject, but when I thought about it more, I decided this might be a good thing. There are a ton of neuroscience blogs out there, so there's plenty of material. Since there is so much material, it might be possible for the two carnivals to develop different focuses over time and still get plenty of submissions.

So, if you're blogging about neuroscience, consider submitting your posts to one of the carnivals. If you've got more than one post on the subject, consider submitting one to each.

Welcome, everyone, to the 14th installment of the brain blogging carnival Encephalon. If you're in the United States, I hope you've got today off, and that you've at least taken a moment to think about the contribution that Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. made to our society. If you're not in the…
Earlier this month, ScienceBloggers Jake Young of Pure Pedantry and Shelley Batts of Retrospectacle got to talking about how, given how many neuro-philes now blog at Sb, it could be fun to start a homegrown neuroscience blog carnival. Jake picked up the ball and ran, organizing most of Sb's other…
This June 01, 2005 post from Science And Politics has been reposted (with mild edits) at several different places by me and others, including on June 01, 2005 on Idea Consultants and on June 10, 2005 on DailyKos. This post, in some way, turned me into some kind of carnival "guru".... What is a…

Personally I think it might be better if the two carnivals merged. Yes, there are a lot of neuroscience blogs, but I think it would be better for the community if there was one central carnival.
