New carnivals!

As I mentioned, the newcomers to Scienceblogs include several neuroscience sites. Admittedly, neuroscience is one of the areas I know least about in biology. A new carnival will leave me no excuses to continue my ignorance.

Hi all you Neuroscience bloggers out there. I -- and many of the other neuroscience-related bloggers on this site -- sense a strong need for a neuroscience carnival -- a way to regularly collect all of our valuable posts in a predigested form. So I am asking you to submit your best neuroscience posts over the next two weeks to me for the first "The Synapse" (a neuroscience carnival) to be published on June 25th.

Please send links including your name and your blog's name to jamesjyoung at your friendly neighborhood gmail. I would also appreciate a one or two sentence summary of the information included as I may not have time to read them all thoroughly. Those who participate regularly will get a chance to host; the host will indicate who is hosting the next issue.

Edited to add: actually, there are two new neuroscience carnivals. Details on the second can be found at The Neurophilosopher:

The first edition of Encephalon will be posted on The neurophilosopher's blog on 3rd July.

If you'd like to contribute, please email up to 3 links to neuroscience-related posts from your blog to encephalon_submit@yahoo.com. You may like to host subsequent editions of Encephalon on their blog. I will display RSS feeds from the blogs of regular contributors on the right-hand sidebar of this page.

Other carnivals coming up:

Animalcules, a carnival of all things microbial, will appear here sometime Thursday.

Pediatric Grand Rounds next Sunday.

Earlier this month, ScienceBloggers Jake Young of Pure Pedantry and Shelley Batts of Retrospectacle got to talking about how, given how many neuro-philes now blog at Sb, it could be fun to start a homegrown neuroscience blog carnival. Jake picked up the ball and ran, organizing most of Sb's other…
The Synapse #13 is capably hosted at Neurocontrarian. Thanks Nick. I have a Synapse-related announcement. The Neurophilosopher, host of the other neuroscience carnival Encephalon, and I have noticed a decline in the number of posts coming into the carnivals. We have agreed that it would make…
