Heading down to DC

Later this month (March 20-22) I will be headed down to Washington DC to check out the national museum of natural history, the national zoo, etc. (It's about time, especially since I blog for Smithsonian...) I would love to set aside some time to meet some DC-area bloggers and readers while I'm there, though, so if you would like to organize a meet-up just say so in the comments. I'll work out the details once I know whether anyone is interested.

As I mentioned earlier this month I will be heading down to Washington DC next weekend. On Sunday (March 22) I will be visiting the National Zoo and would love to meet anyone who would like to come by. Let's meet at 11 AM at the dining hall right near the giant panda exhibit (map here). I apologize…
As regular readers of this blog know, many (if not most) of my "Photos of the Day" come from my regular trips to local zoos, primarily the Bronx and Philadelphia parks. I haven't been back to any of them since I got my new camera, but this summer I've got a few trips planned to replace some of my…
To all those who were expecting to see me at SfN, the DC bloggers meetup, or the upcoming ScienceOnline09, I apologize: I am really sick. And it all started, as catastrophes always do, with a cat. Shortly after Election Day, my feisty tortoiseshell cat (above, looking angry as usual) was…
In a couple of hours, I'll be en route to my favorite city in the world, a place where, although I lived there for but a brief three years, I felt completely at home. Chicago, baby! Yes, I'm on the way to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting in Chicago. While there, I'll be…

I'm a DC area chap and certainly a regular follower here. I'm not free on Saturday (wine tasting party at a friends up near Baltimore) but mobile the rest of the weekend.

Oh, thats a shame, Washington DC is in another continent :(

Still, if you are ever in the UK I'm pretty sure I know almost all the places of Zoological interest in London.

Joe; Thanks. I will keep you posted.

Rosel; Too bad. I might be over in the UK in October, but I won't know for a few months yet.

Dr. Holtz; Rats! I certainly wish I could be in the field over spring break, too, so perhaps some other time. I think the staff at the Smithsonian magazine is organizing something for me with Matt and/or Mike, and I'm definitely looking forward to that.

I'm local...and I require no motivation to go to the zoo, if that were to be a reasonable place to say hello.

Even if that doesn't work out, the National Zoo is wonderful to go early. The grounds open at 7 and the peaceful early hours are a great to see some of the outdoor animals wandering around, feeding and playing.

I'm local, and a meet up sounds cool to me. (Sorry for being a bit late, I've been way behind on my RSS feeds due to school, etc -- finally starting to get semi-current, being only two days behind instead of two months :P )

I'm local, and I'll be back from a week in Texas on the 20th. If something is set up, let me know and I may be able to join. Or I could meet you at or near the zoo on either the 21st or 22nd.
