It had to be done.
With all the quackery and pseudoscience promoted by TV doctors like Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, and "The Doctors," sooner or later someone had to choose a manner other than blogging to call them out. ZDoggMD has done just that, particularly dissing Dr. Oz. Why? Why not. Because:
Why dis Dr. Oz, indeed?
Let's enumerate:
- He's taller, smarter, better looking, and infinitely more successful than me. He must therefore be stopped.
- He may have started out with good intentions, but his current incarnation foists hype, pseudoscience, and unproven "alternative" treatments upon millions of unsuspecting Americans who believe that his is the final word. After all, he has been duly annointed by She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named!
- Every practicing doctor dreads hearing these words from their patients: "But Dr. Oz says..." See here my informal Facebook poll of Dr. Oz tomfoolery.
- Dissing Doctor Oz will inevitably lead to an East Coast-West Coast rap beef of epic proportions, resulting in untold publicity for both parties. Win-Win! Although I am likely to die in a drive-by syringe attack.
So it's time to bust a cap in the Oprah-Industrial-Complex.
And here's the cap:
Not bad. ZDoggMD even got a dig in at The Doctors.

Stick a fork in Dr. Oz. He's done.
I know I've been highly critical of Dr. Mehmet Oz, Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Columbia University and medical director of the Integrative Medicine Program (i.e., Columbia's quackademic medicine) program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Those are…
Regular readers of this blog will find it no surprise that I don't think much of Dr. Mehmet Oz. The reason, of course, is that his daily television show, The Dr. Oz Show, has been a font of misinformation about medicine almost since it began airing six years ago. It's not for nothing that I long…
If there's one doctor who irritates me possibly more than any other, it's got to be "America's Doctor," a.k.a. Dr. Mehmet Oz, thanks to The Dr. Oz Show. He's been an all too frequent topic on this blog and at my not-so-super-secret other blog. Of course, I refer to him as "America's quack," because…
NOTE: Dr. Novella has written up a detailed description of his experiences on The Dr. Oz Show. Please read it. Also note that the online video for Dr. Novella's appearance is now available:

Any dig at Oz that points out his antics is good. I've been trying to convert my Oz-loving mother, but it's been difficult. Her response to my critiques is "I take what he says with a grain of salt and decide for myself what I want to believe." The problem, of course, is that my mother has no medical or scientific expertise and thus looks at Oz for such. She has no way of distinguishing bad science from good.
that's great!
I'm not usually a fan of rap, but that was funny and hit the target dead center.
Thanks for the chuckles.
I generally cringe and turn away within the first seconds of these sorts of videos, but this was well done and entertaining the whole way through (I say, for anyone of a similar ilk who is contemplating not watching it).
I loved the Dr. Gupta part... ZDogg should take "Health Ranger" to task next.
Great video. It da explosive device. Or something.
Wasn't aware of "The Doctors" show. Off to Google, but I'm guessing it's like Dr. Oz time 4.
Heh. I keep getting visions of the Medic in Team Fortress 2, who I think is actually a better medical professional than Dr. Oz at this point.
"male pattern baldness."
spit my gatorade out.
Not really but still liked the line.
A real "gem"...yes time to bust Oprah, Inc. and her Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and her owning the airwaves.
I never saw The Doctors....please don't make me watch the program....I suspect I would find it just as barf-able as the big O's TV docs.
Hilarious.
I loved it.
Haha! I remember once asking my son's absolutely wonderful, woo-free doctor about something I'd accidentally seen on Dr. Phil . . . his answer, concise and perfect: "Dr. Phil is an idiot."
This semi-pro musician approves. And the visual FX were really quite well done.
Culture jam!! LOVE IT!
Looks like another pharma shill. It's interesting to observe over 65000 lawsuits issued within a 6 year period against pharmaceutical companies for killing thousands of gullible patients each year. You should look at Actos,Avandia,Accutane,Paxil,Vioxx,Ritalin just to name a few in which the drug doctors/md's have prescribed and have caused deaths and deadly side effects.Schemes like symptomatic treatment hiding behind the name science where the word is simply marketing.Dr.Barbara Starfield,MD reported 106000 deaths per year because of prescriptions in 1999 JAMA.Psychiatrists/shrinks run about scamming people with pseudoscience and fraud. Not one shred of evidence to prove psychiatry. You attack Dr.Oz who is a well respected individual and you target him since you have your belief system and draw conclusions based on biased websites and opinionated propaganda. You sir should be sued for slander.
