...but only temporarily!
As you may have heard, our benevolent leaders at ScienceBlogs are finally doing a major upgrade of our blog publishing software. That's the good news. I'm hoping the back end is much easier to use and more responsive. The bad news is that the whole ScienceBlogs site is going to locked down. It will still be there. You can still read it and browse every scintillating post, but none of the ScienceBloggers will be able to post, and none of the readers will be able to comment. Bummer. Hopefully the upgrade will be worth it.
The lockdown period will begin at 1 PM. Unfortunately, it will run at least until Saturday evening. I have a couple of timed posts, but I have no idea if the automatic posting feature will work during the transition.
Personally, I'll take the opportunity to take it easy for a day or two. If my blogging jones must be fulfilled, I still have my old blog, which has been mothballed for nearly three years, and I have similarly timed the posts set to post here to show up also at the old site. So if by noon tomorrow, there's nothing new here, check over a the old Respectful Insolence.
Or not.
In the meantime, for any newbies out there to the wild world of not-so-Respectful Insolence, now is the perfect time to peruse the archives. There's lots of good stuff there--almost three years' worth since I moved to ScienceBlogs--if I do say so myself.
Or you could follow me on Twitter. Yes, I finally broke down and set up an account. No, I have no idea if I'll keep using Twitter. Right now I'm just experimenting and playing around with it.

I clicked on the twitter feed, and was considering following it when it struck me what it reminded me of, the scene in Repo Man where the person in the protective suit was going through the motions of doing something with the alien stuff while dictating exactly the minutia of what he was doing.
