Orac, Killer of Buzz...

i-1fc34c55c5dba06f6a23de4fa2c42ab9-200340731.jpg...or so sayeth Reason.TV, where a credulous blogger didn't like what Orac laid down and found him oh-so-humorless.

Orac, Killer of Buzz. You know, I sort of like the sound of that. I like the sound and humor of this, too.

Of course, some buzzes deserve to be terminated with extreme prejudice; so just for laughs I'll throw out a few fun links that fellow ScienceBlogger Tim Lambert turned me on to (or led me to through other links) over the last couple of days:

  1. Climate scepticism: The top 10
  2. Skeptic Arguments

  3. Convenient Untruths
  4. Climate science: Sceptical about bias (which fellow ScienceBlogger Mark, clearly being part of the old boys' club and scientific conspiracy, has commented on)
  5. Sun and global warming: A cosmic connection?
  6. Unravelling the sceptics

Enjoy!

I thought I'd take a bit of a break for a change of pace. At the risk of falling flat on my face, I'm going to wander far afield from the usual medical and biological topics of this blog into an area that I rarely say much about. The reason is an incident that happened nearly two weeks ago when I…
"I think one of the reasons that we like conspiracy theories is I think that we like to feel like there is a group of people who are so smart and powerful that they can pull the wool over an entire country or in fact even an entire world's eyes. That certainly makes us feel like somehow we're…
Tim Blair has posted emails from Ted Lapkin and Andrew Bolt who object to a couple of my posts. Blair fails to provide links to the posts so that readers can determine whether Lapkin and Bolt have accurately described what happened. Lapkin begins: In November 2003, I argued in the pages of…
Now here's something that'll go to Orac's head (if, in fact, he actually had a head instead of a Plexiglass cube of blinking colored lights). He's been named by Rebecca Watson (a.k.a. The Skepchick) as one of the Top 10 Skeptics Who Kicked Ass in 2008! src="http://skepchick.org/blog/wp-content/…

It's funny, the person who posted that for Reason is using the same arguments Slagle used against you, namely calling you a nerd for not letting them just make shit up.

Another funny thing by the blogger, Shikha Dalmia, is the characterization of my blog as "mildly successful." In Sitemeter, I've seen at most three or four visits here referred from Reason.tv.

Shikha is more than welcome to click on my Sitemeter icon...

hCE1 is an interesting read... are you suggesting that you are an enzyme that breaks down multiple toxic agents with promiscuity? (my apologies if that should be obvious)

The Slagle bit is interesting (I'm weighing in for the first time). Humor typically comes from a situation does not conform with what is expected. In this case, Slagle tries to create humor out of a reality that does not conform with free market ideology... which would be why his stand up isn't funny after the first minute.

His academic professor-bashing schtick was stolen from the pages of Ann Coulter. It takes a truly special man to recycle that noise. Is he paying her royalties?

On a side note, I loved how this paunchy, middle aged, unknown comedian gets off saying how scientists don't get laid. Note to comic: look in the mirror.
