Now that Boston has won a recent World Series, Cleveland has the longest dry spell (last Series won in 1948).

Fair enough, Cleveland brought the better team to the series. Its a funny kind of hate though. Jesus obviously hates the Yankees so much he got them into the playoffs thirteen years running.
Here's a quick question for you: Out of last years playoff teams only one made it the playoffs again this year, which one? (hint: the answer's in the first paragraph above)

I saw the Indians play a couple of times when I was in med school there. Now, I'm a Mariners fan. And, as they say, a fan of whatever team happens to be playing the Yankees.
Ah, yes, but apparently since 2000 Jesus has clearly abandoned them. Indeed, a measure of His hatred for the Yankees is that He let them make it to the playoffs each year since then, only to deny them the ultimate prize that they consider due them. Indeed, the last three or four years were particularly exquisite torture. You had the flameout, with Boston coming back from a 3-0 deficit to sweep the Yankees in four games to go to the World Series. You have the Tigers and now the Indians knocking them out in the first round. Personally, I think that Jesus is being very cruel here, to let the Yankees think they have a chance and then send them home to golf in the ALDS series.
We'll see about that. Both teams finished with the same record. Both teams are very, very good. I doubt either will "whip the pants" off the other. I expect a close, hard-fought series--with the Indians ultimately coming out on top, of course!
I happened to be in Chicago this w/e when the Cubs lost. The talk on the radio after the game was typical, being a fan of many a losing team myself. The interesting thing was that many of the announcers were turning their attention to the Cleveland Indians and saying things like. "Since the cubs are out of it lets root for the Indians, who are also long-over due."

Haven't followed baseball in 15 years, not since moving to Europe. But I lived in Cleveland in the 80s and I'd be very glad to hear that they are finally a good team. Especially since I believe Cleveland amassed a 3rd world country's worth of debt to build their new stadium.
