Some notes:

No 29: Total solar eclipse, with my naked eyes.

Nos 46, 77 and 78 are all the same event (although I broke a bone as a kid, too)

No 80: two books, actually...

No 85: Even the begats and most of the Apocrypha

No 91: Does Cliff Richard count? Billy Connolly?

Many of these things are very hard for an Australian to do, on account of their not being next doorish.

Via Chad, a list of 100 food items. You are supposed to bold the ones you have eaten (55) and strike-through those you'd never try (4). 1. Venison 2. Nettle tea 3. Huevos rancheros 4. Steak tartare 5. Crocodile 6. Black pudding 7. Cheese fondue 8. Carp 9. Borscht…
Following on from the last food meme, Janet gives us 100 vegetarian dishes to try. As there is nothing vegetarian I won't try, I'l just bold those I have tried and pass this along. As usual, comments are welcome. 1. Real macaroni and cheese, made from scratch and baked 2. Tabouleh 3. Freshly…
I've seen this a bunch of places, but the most recent was Skwid's LiveJournal: below the fold is a big long list of foods (exotic and otherwise), with ones I've eaten marked in bold face. The standard instructions call for striking out anything you won't even consider eating, but I can imagine…
I saw this meme over at at Jane's, who saw it at Janet's: The Vegetarian's Hundred, a veggie response to the Omnivore's Hundred meme. Here are Jane/Janet's rules: If you want to play along, here's how you do it: copy the list, including my instructions, and bold any items you have eaten and strike…

No 29: Total solar eclipse, with my naked eyes

Generally considered a Bad Idea, you know. I viewed mine (1972 @ Gaspe, Quebec) through heavy welder's glass, or by projection. OK, I suppose I occasionally glanced at it. It was pretty cloudy.

(I note it doesn't specify solar or lunar. I have, of course, seen lots of the latter, so it hardly counts).

91. Met someone famous

No 91: Does Cliff Richard count? Billy Connolly?

If "famous" means anything at all, then Cliff is famous. There are some people in GB who think that he is second only to the Queen. In fact there are some people who think that he is more important than the Queen. Then again there are some people who think he is a Queen!

Rats, I've only done 38 of these things. Maybe 39 - does going part way up one of these count?

And how speedy did the motorcycle have to be? I was never in a movie, but my picture is in the "Hotel California" songbook, on the "Victim of Love" page. I know that doesn't count, but it's something.

I've done 55. More than half way. 100 should be "seen a comet". Just a suggestion. :) And just to nit pick, Perhaps you fathered a baby, not HAD one.

38 items for me.

Same comment on "had a baby".

On 28, I have the distinction of visiting Venice and NOT riding in gondola.

98 - I didn't think Australians had cellphones; we have mobile phones (both names are silly - the Indonesian version is "handphone" - much better).

64 - can you donate platelets without blood?

86 - does going past the White House in a tourist bus count?

91 - does meeting an Australian Prime Minister count?

I didn't think bouncing a check was something to be proud of, though maybe these days it's more normal - anyway, done that too.

49 and 79 - didn't know they made personal appearances.

Over all, you've done more things than I have, which is not surprising. But I have watched whales and got chickenpox (not simultaneously).

"Got flowers for no reason" is too ill-defined, because surely if someone wanted to give me flowers, then that is automatically a reason. I have never had a flower appear in my hand through fluke quantum-mechanical thingies.

Well, looking at the list and the post #44 "Visit Africa" (a rather large continent), I must say that if you had been equally vague on Europe (or at least condensed the Italian posts to "Travel Italy") you would have had less things to do. At least on the list. But semantics aside, it is really interesting to see the thing you've done and want to do, and compare that to the things I've done and want to do. If we combined our forces there would only be a handful of posts left on the list :)

Bummer that you couldn't visit the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre when you were in Paris, though.

It's a fun game to picture which of these besides 46, 77 and 78 were all the same incident. I particularly like 58 and 97.

I get 46 or 47 depending on how you define the answer to #29. I stood in my yard in the pouring rain and observed the cloud behind which the sun was being eclipsed with one eye whilst watching the sun being eclipsed live on television in a more friendly climate, through the living room window, with my other eye!

If that doesn't count, I have observed a very spectacular comet with a long tail and a transit of Venus both under perfect conditions.
