DSN Gets A New Member

We are the onlyhottest blog on the deep sea! The saltiest marine blog! Nobody can top our skillz. But I told you before in 2008 we were going to be bigger and badder. Now the time has come. cue maniacal laughter

Some of the more observant of you will notice that we've added a new banner in rotation. Those of you mathematically inclined will note three ghost heads and not two in the banner. That third floating head belongs to none other than DSN's old whipping boy, Kevin Zelnio. Kevin is now officially blogging at DSN. Don't worry he will still be the whipping boy. Keys to the DSN submarine and research vessel, access ID to the behind-the-scenes-and-get-the-cetaceans-drunk parties, and a humongous bank roll are now in his possession.

This situation arose when I realized Kevin's spin off blog, The Other 95%, was doing a little to well. In a total Microsoft/Borg maneuver, we assimilated the competition. This project has been in the works for a few months, the length attributed to arguing between Peter and I on who let him escape in the first place.

So expect more greatness in the new year while we keep the good, toss the bad, and freshen the place up a bit.

I am proud to announce that DSN has its own theme song now via the generosity of Kevin Zelnio. As you may remember, Kevin Zelnio used to blog here and then spun off to create The Other 95%, a wonderful blog on everything invertebrate. Peter equated this to the Frazier/Cheers spin off. I see it…
Spent some time today remodeling the website. The biggest difference you will notice is a rotating masthead. Currently there are three in random rotation. The first one is the one you are familiar with. Those of you with us since the old days will recognize the second masthead, our very fist for…
