There is very little published about this, so I have no idea why it
happened. Dick Cheney's attorney,
href="http://www.usnews.com/blogs/news-desk/2007/11/1/cheney-lawyer-is-leaving.html">Shannen
Coffin, has resigned. He "is expected to take a
breather from the rapid pace of government service," then return to
private practice.
The announcement was made late Thursday last week, and was essentially
ignored by the media. Google News lists
only the US News & World Report article,
and one mention at

Muckraker. Perhaps that is because it is
not important.
But somehow I doubt that. Congress is to consider impeachment
of the Vice President next week.

Timothy Sandefur says that I "refuse to call a dirty trick a dirty trick when committed by John Kerry", referring of course to all of this outrage over Kerry's mere mention of Mary Cheney's name the other night. Now it must be said that Sandefur does not take the position that so many of the others…

Who needs lawyers when you're above the law?
Sometime after the end of the Bush Presidency, we will no doubt learn that all the staff actually had been gone for months, replaced by cardboard cutouts of themselves.
Or by aliens, from the planet Capgras.
Actually, I think it is more likely that Congress has been replaced by cardboard cutouts.
