Agilent is excited to host an exhibit featuring a "mystery solving" theme. This is your chance to don a lab coat, examine evidence and use hands-on testing techniques to solve a mystery. Support for events that engage and inspire students in science is one of the ways that we at Agilent invest in everyone's future.

"Excellence in science education is crucial to worldwide progress and continual improvement in quality of life," said Darlene Solomon, Ph.D., Agilent chief technology officer. "By highlighting what's cool about science and engineering, the USA Science & Engineering Festival provides opportunities for students to explore interesting careers and discover new areas that intrigue them.

In keeping with the company's focus of "Inspiring the Scientists and Engineers of Tomorrow," the Agilent exhibit will feature two enjoyable and exciting, age appropriate, hands-on science activities. Younger students play the role of a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) detective and solve a "Who Wrote the Ran som Note" mystery using paper chromatog raphy. Older students act as a petroleum engine er and investigate what materials might contain and clean up a simulated oil spill. Agilent scientists will be available to answer questions from adults and students about the analytical measurement tools and technologies that are changing the way we understand the world.

The company's three primary measurement businesses -- electronics, chemical analysis and life sciences -- supported by the Agilent Research Laboratories, provide products to meet quality-of-life challenges of today and tomorrow. For example, Agilent's chemical analysis products help keep air, water and food clean and safe. Our advanced electronic sources and analyzers enable next-generation mobile communications that stream YouTube videos to cell phones, and life sciences technologies advance better understanding and treatment of disease.
