Penny Richards has created a new purse, available on her Etsy site. Here's some info about it she shared with me (details about the purse construction available on the site):
[the purse honors] Melba Roy, a Howard University graduate (undergrad and masters) who was a mathematician at NASA's Goddard…
Was that the train? Was it? The Scientiae train? Oh damn, I was in the bathroom!
A couple of posts were left off the train completely inadvertently, so please accept the conductors' apologies, and enjoy a pretty open compartment on the bullet train to catch up to the main locomotive.

I've been a bit too quiet on my end during this third year of ScienceBlogs.com participation in the October Blogger Challenges for DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org was launched by Charles Best, a Bronx schoolteacher who recognized that public schools around the US were underfunded, particularly…
Check it out: Scienceblogging.org. On twitter too!
Thanks to Dave Munger, Bora Zivkovic and Anton Zuiker for coming up with what we've all been waiting for -- a way to keep track of all the new science blogging networks that have been sprouting up everywhere lately.
From Bora's Drumroll, please!…
Mayhap you could! Glad to take requests. I love working with portraits--and the ones at Flickr Commons aren't under any known copyright restrictions, so those are my favorites.
THESE ARE THE MOST AWESOME PURSES EVER.
Now to figure out how to parlay one for my birthday...
Turned out it was as easy as clicking on it and buying it myself! :)
Thanks for the purchase Carlie--it should be at your house on Friday.
A special preview for very diligent Zuska readers: The next fabulous scientist purse will feature a neuroanatomist, Elizabeth Caroline Crosby (1888-1983), first woman to hold a full professorship in the University of Michigan's medical school.... it's in progress right now, should post to the Etsy site by Friday.
The Elizabeth Caroline Crosby purse is now posted:

ohmigod that's frickin' wonderful! you are a GENIUS!
Also, I don't carry purses around, EVER, as in not for the last 20 years since I was in high school. It just hit me last year that now my kids are old enough that I don't have to haul a huge bag around, but we sometimes need more than can fit in my pockets, and now and again it would be nice to have something other than a laptop bag or the like. It was freaking me out trying to figure out what kind of this "purse" thing to get, so quite fortuitous.
Carlie, you sound like my friend Suz, back in the 90's when I first met her, about not carrying purses...
It came today, is FABULOUS, and was in a gorgeous little birthday bag. :)
