Why did Tiahrt and Moran vote against Kansas farmers, soldiers and students?

During debate on a measure in the state legislature that would oppose the escalation of war in Iraq, new state GOP chairman Kris Kobach and a state senator both misrepresented Nancy Boyda's vote on a spending measure, a resolution setting 2007 appropriations based on the 2006 funding levels.

Normally, appropriations measures are supposed to be passed before the fiscal year begins, but the last Congress was so incompetent, they didn't manage to pass all of the necessary legislation, punting the sole annual obligation of the House of Representatives to the next Congress.

While the GOP is criticizing Boyda and 285 other Representatives for passing a resolution which locks in funding for Fort Riley at 2006 levels, they ought to be wondering why Representatives Moran and Tiahrt voted against funding it or any military spending at all. They should also be asking how Reps. Tiahrt, Moran and Ryun allowed the previous Congress to go a full year without passing a budget for our armed forces.

It wasn't just Defense funding that Tiahrt and Moran voted against either. The Continuing Resolution they opposed provided funding for the Department of Agriculture. Had they prevailed, Kansas farmers with land in CRP or CSP would be missing payments. Federal crop payments and federal crop advisors would have gone missing, too. Grain and meat inspectors would have been furloughed, which means farmers couldn't put goods on the market.

In addition, funds for land grant universities would have been delayed, forcing K-State to scramble for funds to educate students from Moran and Tiahrt's district.

You piss and moan about your education funds. Well maybe it's time that the ag dept in Washington just pertained to ag. It's time to stop tagging on all the ammendments taht don't pertain to or have anything to do with agriculture. Tell me how do food stamps pertain to agriculture? How do grants to the Kansas univercities pertain to agriculture? How does a bridge in Alaska that leads you nowhere pertain to agriculture. Shut up and do your job. Find out where insects like you came from.

The bill you are writing about here, which passed in February, funded a range of departments, not just agriculture. I'm not altogether sure what your point is.
