Just a quick note to readers to let you know that I have not forgotten you. I am finally back to work after LungMutiny2010 and must tend to many issues that have accumulated in my absence. I should have some new and interesting topics for you later this week.
In the meantime, feel free to note in the comment thread any interesting posts you may have read over the last few days regardless of their topic, science or not.
See you soon!

A few days ago, I asked what it takes for a young person to start and, more importantly, continue for a longer term, to write a science blog. The comment thread on that post is quite enlightening, I have to say - check it out.
What is more important - that post started a chain-reaction on Twitter…
I wanted to issue a great big thank-you to all of you who came by to comment on the 4th anniversary of this blog and share with us who you are and why you read. After a slow start, a few blog links and Twitter-prodding by my colleagues got the commenting going full bore. I intend to respond to…
The Mooney-Nisbet combo act is heading to New York: We are doing a talk at the New York Academy of Sciences, sponsored by the Science Alliance, on Monday night. Click the icon for details. This should be our biggest event yet (we just got a nice mention from Darksyde over at Daily Kos), so if you'…
I just commented over at DrugMonkey's on a question he re-posed on behalf of a question posed by blogger, Lorax:
However, I am concerned about message. I do not want the interesting and important science to be diluted (to some potential readers) by the fact that I am an opinionated bastard. So, I…
Glad to hear you're on the mend. If my experience is anything to go by, it may take you a couple months to reach complete recovery, so don't try to push too hard. We'll be patient so you don't have to be a patient.
Welcome back to the land of the living!
I don't believe you had pneumonia... I believe your lungs were attacked by zombie snot.

BOTH suicide and homicide are in the top 15. And how come septicemia is so high? This is what happens when I've finished all my work and the phone doesn't ring. I get sucked into the internet.
Now, I'm off to investigate what gives you septicemia.
I'm so glad you're better. But take it easy!
don't you feel a little, almost, giddy? being able to get out of the house, be around people other than family, and think about something other than getting enough oxygen?
We're glad to hear you are feeling better!
Chicken soup, bro. See you tomorrow I hope.
Many thanks to all of you. I can't exactly say that LungMutiny2010 is over because I get exhausted so quickly. My voice is still pretty hoarse and I hope that it someday returns to normal, or normal for me.
I'm finding that I have to pace myself - if I spend a whole day at work, I'll have bronchial spasms overnight and into the next day, essentially putting me out of commission. I'm experimenting with going in for a few hours, getting hardcopy paperwork done, then coming home and finishing things via computer.
As I've said before, I am amazed how much this illness has brought my physical health to its knees. It's still embarrassing to have to call it a day after walking a total of 10-15 min. But then again, I couldn't walk 10 min three weeks ago.
@TexasReader - you are so right - almost giddy when I'm feeling good. I love my family, of course, but it sure is great to see old colleagues. Some of them are even happy to see me return.
Glad to hear you are getting better, Abel. Sounds like a very nasty bout.
Did you ever post what the particular organism stomping you was? I guess you probably did but I've forgotten.
And while we're talking blogposts, can I plug one of my own about how much I dislike - REALLY REALLY dislike! - over-use of abbreviations in science? The blog is pretty new, so it needs readers, if the Nature Network location doesn't put people off too much.
