A job doing atmospheric research in your bunny slippers!

This job ad from Katherine Hayhoe, amazing climate scientist and one of my favorite Twitter people, is EXACTLY the sort of career opportunity that we need to see more of.

The realities of our world are that many of us need or wish we had
more flexible jobs - in terms of hours, location, and what we can do
with kids underfoot. With that in mind, about 10 years ago I started a
research consulting company that I hoped would create that ideal job
for me. Today, atmosresearch.com provides occasional to full-time work
to more than a dozen people, over half of us women.

Given our focus on providing climate change projections and analyses
to a range of clients in the public and private sector, our workload
is constantly growing. We've now reached the point where we are in
dire need of expanding our team to include either a scientist with a
good working knowledge of R, or a statistician with experience in
handling geophysical data.

The position is open for any time commitment from 25% to 75%. Maybe
even 100%, depending on what we can afford. We can't make any promises
on that till we see your resume and look at our budget, but we'll
certainly entertain any offers.

It doesn't matter to us where you live, or what time of night you
prefer to work, or even if you like to wear bunny slippers and hang
upside down while you type.

What we are looking for is someone who is flexible and skilled, works
well independently, is very interested in doing policy-relevant and
practical science, is good at meeting deadlines and keeping on track
with time-sensitive projects, and most importantly, has other
opportunities besides work to get out of the house, so the virtual
nature of the job won't drive you crazy.

The ideal candidate will have at least an MS degree, be a US citizen
or have a valid work permit that doesn't require us to jump through
any visa hoops, and be highly tolerant of a constantly changing,
always challenging, but never boring work environment.
