And now Obama's real work begins. Indiana is still too close to call. (I didn't think I would ever say this, but thank goodness for Bob Barr!) But it doesn't matter. Breathe a sigh of relief, and now roll up our sleeves and start fixing this global mess we're in. And please please please keep Obama and his family safe while he gets down to the real job now, and some crazy big problems we all need to help solve. Let's hope we can.
How we spent election night. That black square in the upper right of my screen is my video iChat with my parents in Wisconsin - they were sitting in the dark at this point.

Right, so I now live (most of the time) in Indiana. We're up next, along with North Carolina, in the presidential primary spotlight. I've been getting multiple mailings every day, we've got ads on TV, the cities are being visited by major players; while I'm new to Indiana and am coming from the…
I don't think Democrats should let the Palin fiasco overshadow a great convention: there were some great speeches, one of them by John Kerry. While Kerry did an awful job of responding to the swiftboating, that episode really does mask some of his strengths: he's a terrific debater, and a very…
Some of you may know that a publisher contacted me last year about turning a piece of short fiction I'd written from an adult perspective into a young adult novel. There are several reasons I wanted to do this - the first is that in many ways, the young adult fiction market is much more vital than…
Some commentary on the night just past. This will be somewhat scattered, as I stayed up until 1 to hear Obama and read the celebratory postings at my favorite left-leaning blogs:
-- As much as I believed what folks like Nate Silver were saying, I was still afraid that it would somehow all go wrong…
Yep. Just because the election is over doesn't mean our work as American citizens is done. We need to keep the momentum going.
I really hope his family stays safe. I am so leery of the assassination attempts. The anxiety won't be over till Jan 20th for me.
Funny. That's exactly what we were doing... mac and NYT and everything!
It was amazing, I second that plea to keep him safe. We are all ignoring (maybe purposefully) that he had gave his acceptance speech behind bullet proof glass.
Great post, and an even better picture... Indiana is BLUE! Wow. I join you in wishing the Obama family safe and the country to continue their citizenry. It's going to be a long hall and we've only just begun to really work towards change.
I also echo that hope they stay safe. This is a great day for all Americans and makes me proud to be an American.
