... as I'm sick. And swamped. And sick. And traveling again both this weekend, and next weekend. And last weekend. Did I mention I'm sick?
In better news, the bobcat guy flattened our backyard, so it's flat now from the geothermal installation, and looks like it has potential for gardening. A cheering thought. My good friend and colleague Donna Riley is visiting Purdue today (and giving this seminar), and dinner with her and a group of other folks is promised on another colleague's porch (it's going to be 70ºF!).
So that counterbalances a bit the sickness and swampedness. A little. :-)
(And I thought, without the teaching this semester, that my semester end wouldn't be completely insane. What was I thinking?!?)

This weekend, Seed Media, our benevolent and beloved corporate overlords, sponsored a Scibling gathering: ScienceBloggers from all over the country (and outside) all gathered in New York, ate, drank, and partied.
It made for quite an interesting weekend. I didn't end up being able to hang around…
I've found myself in the weird position of giving career advice twice in the last week and a half. Once was to a former student, which I sort of understand, while the second time was a grad student in my former research group, who I've never met. I still don't really feel qualified to offer useful…

Note: 1 1/2 feet of snow so far and still falling - we may get more than three by the end (the words "in the higher elevations" are generally the ones you want to listen to when forecasts are made for my area). Power so far, but not expecting it to last. Smaller dog must boing around in snow to…
I hope you are feeling better soon. I think many of us plan too much to do during our non-teaching periods. Maybe teaching forces us to actually more realistically evaluate our ability to get things done.
I hope that a sunny dinner with friends outdoors is enough to stem the tide of suck.
Feel better soon!
I demand more blogging!
Don't listen to that PP. He's under the influence of Viking Kitten Overlords.
I'm sorry to hear you're sick...hope it goes away soon! Enjoy dinner with Donna Riley, that should be a lot of fun!
