Two events in the next couple of weeks at which I will be appearing live and in person:
1) This Thursday, Feb. 4, I will be giving a talk at the University of Maryland, College Park at 3:30 pm in the Lecture Hall (room 1110) in the Kim Engineering Building. The title of the talk is "Talking to My Dog About Science: Why Public Communication of Science Matters, and How Weblogs Can Help." Which reminds me, I need to tweak those slides...
Lest I get overly nostalgic about Our Nation's Capital, there's snow predicted for Friday and Saturday, just in time to potentially screw up my flight home. Fantastic.
2) I will be at Boskone in Boston next weekend, February 12-14. The program is still in a preliminary state, but I'm currently slated to both sign books, and read stuff. The reading will most likely include a dog conversation that's not in the book, along with me doing the silly dog voice, so, you know, stop by if either of those things sounds interesting to you.
Further updates as events warrant.

I tutor a an 8-year-old boy who's quite smart. He walked in today holding... your book! They had picked it up at the Orinda Library. (One branch of the Contra Costa County library system, I believe.) Just thought you might like to know...

Not just snow, but a fucking dumping of Serious Snow. I'm so tired of snow. Can it be Spring already? It'll be snowing again here in another couple hours, just to prep for what we're getting at the end of the week.
And lucky us...they just upgraded us (literally, I just got the updated Winter Storm Warning from the NWS) from maybe an inch for today's snow to three to six inches. As much as I love my car, I'm going to have to sell it and buy something with a foot of ground clearance just to be able to leave my driveway during the Winter months.
