I shouldn't read the other comments, because now I can't choose. So many old familiar faces that deserve the nom. But it's not like they'll leave if they're overlooked, and plenty of deserving scientists never got a Nobel either, so it's not gereat loss to not receive official recognition when the sincere admiration is there.

• Hypatia's Daughter. HD made a thought-provoking historical case for how we can pursue science for the craziest of reasons, such as attempting to find evidence of a god (or Sasquatch), and still do good science.
