Another dignified and ancient TO regular joins the blogosphere

Old hands at the usenet group talk.origins will recall Chris Nedin well — and now he has entered the blogosphere with his brand new blog, Ediacaran, a blog about paleontology and all the other things that waft through the mind of a science geek. Go say hello!

Everyone knows already why I was off in Melbourne this past week — it was the Global Atheist Conference — but why did I hare off to Canberra for the weekend? It was another conspiracy. Many years ago, the locus of all things evolutionist on the interwebs was found on Usenet, in a group called talk.…
There is a tradition among the regulars of the usenet group talk.origins to have occasional gatherings, usually at some major locus of evolutionary activity, and accompanied by beer. Such an event will be happening this Saturday, in London. We'll be meeting on these steps at 2pm: That's the…
Those who are getting very agitated, missing out on their Usenet fix of the group talk.origins, which has been dormant for the past few days, should know that Steps Are Being Taken. Stop emailing me. I don't know any more than this... go take some other stimulant. Alcohol, chocolate, anything!…
The managing editor of a small town newspaper in Wisconsin, Rose Eddy, is very upset with certain vicious hate groups, so she made up a list for her staff and announced that they will not be accepting ads or information from them, ever. And then she publicized it, declaring her unimpeachable moral…

Yeah, but how can he be trusted?

Welcome, Ediacaran!

Speaking of T.O., when are you coming to Toronto and do you and Skatje want a ride from the airport?

Just what has happened to TO? I used to eagerly look forward to reading the "letters to the editors" section, but alas that seems to be long dead.

I haven't seen any sign of life there for around 2 years now.

Fixed (I hope) - unless your comments weren't complimentary, in which case it's still broken!

Thanks for the link PZ. It seems old TOers never die, they just block up the blogosphere . . .

Alas, Mssr. Nedin, my (non-uncomplimentary*) remarks still can't get through. No spamblocker barrier this time - it's just that clicking either "Post" or "Preview" yields results no different from "Reload" (using Firefox 3.0.3 under Mac OSX 10.4.11, fwltw).

*Unless a speculation about using dishonest election-rigging tactics as a counterstrategy to an inherently weak political position is considered equivalent to, say, disparaging your wardrobe?
