Which Time Zone Is Best for Blogging?

I'm limiting this to the U.S. (my apologies). Do you think one time zone has an advantage in blogging over another? Is there an advantage to 'getting off the mark early' (i.e., Eastern Standard Time) or getting 'last licks' (PST)? What do you think?

Jeff Masters gives us a useful rundown on Alberto's life history; here's the part I find most interesting: Alberto formed from a tropical wave that moved off of the coast of Africa on May 30. The wave tracked farther north than usual for June, entering the eastern Caribbean on June 5, and the…
I've never properly acknowledged the commercial artist, Mr Brien O'Reilly of SaBOR Design, who designed the content-rich, scientific eye-candy banner in the masthead above for the Sb version of Terra Sigillata. So, I'd like to kick off the week raising awareness of the banner and advertising Mr O…
Things have been a little nuts here. Two weeks ago Eric and I took an emergency placement of two children, six and 17 mos.  It turned out to be one of the most exhausting and stressful placements we've ever had, not because of the kids, who are delightful (although I had somehow forgotten what…
Thanks to a winter storm that dumped a heapin' helpin' of heavy wet snow on us last night, we lost power before this post even got going. However, I did have a bit of time this morning to finish it up as a quickie (by my standards) before my laptop battery indicator started expressing its…

I might be biased, but I like EST for blogging. Presumably your post(s) will be available for a greater percentage of your readership's time in front of the computer.
I co-write my blog with a friend on the West coast, however, and I really like waking up and finding new posts as well.

I'm about as far west as one can go (in North America) and due to work and family obligations I often don't get to post until 9 or 10 in the evening. By that time most readers back east have already hit the hay.

I guess it all balances out in the end though. When I'm posting in the evenings it is usually morning in Kuala Lumpur where another blogger that I know is just starting off her day.

The real advantage is that we have bloggers across the nation picking out little pieces of information locally and pushing them up to national views. I tend to look at it all as a team effort...

Without a doubt, the best time zone is Canada's Atlantic zone, which is one hour ahead of Eastern time. On the West Coast, you can blog late at night, but most of the news hits the media outlets between 4 AM and 8 AM Eastern, so west coast bloggers have to either blog at very odd hours, or look for more obscure stories that haven't already been chewed to death by our east coast brethren.
