Moselio Schaechter, former American Society of Microbiology president, has a blog, Small Things Considered. It's pretty good. But the promo letter ASM sent around had one annoying thing (italics mine):
Microbes have entered the blogosphere courtesy of past ASM president Moselio Schaechter, professor emeritus at Tufts and a visiting scholar at the University of San Diego.
Actually, microbes have been in the blogosphere for some time now. Tara immediately comes to mind, along with the regular contributors to Animalcules (not to mention the Mad Biologist, who has a thing or two to say about antibiotics from time to time...).
But don't hold the promo letter against Schaechter, Small Things Considered is worth the read.
Although he should curse a lot more.

Here at DSN we give microbes a dedicated week at other blogs it is all microbes all the time. At the wonderfully titled Small Thing Considered, you should check out both Swimming by the Light of the Sun and Gifts From Above. The site has more credentials and awards than can fit on an office wall…

Why don't I blog more? In part because I'm busy reading other blogs. I finally got around to adding some of my favorite science blogs outside the scienceblogs.com empire to the blogroll over on the left side. Allow me to take a moment to introduce you to them.

This is the perfect opportunity to note the wonderful tabloid headline I saw in the checkout line yesterday:
"Boy Raised by Microbes"
It even showed the boy next to a picture of his 'foster parents.'
Looks like Schaechter was scooped.
