NERS, the book!

One day, back when I was blogging via Wordpress, I stumbled across another science blog called Not Exactly Rocket Science. I was very impressed by what was posted there, and it is no surprise that ScienceBlogs eventually snapped up Ed to write here.

Ed has earned a reputation as one of the best science bloggers out there, and now you can purchase a collected volume of some of his best work. Announced yesterday, Not Exactly Rocket Science contains about 80 of Ed's well-crafted pieces. I definitely encourage you to pick up a copy.

Now the question is, "When are we going to see the bound version of Tetrapod Zoology?"

[I have occasionally considered collecting the best of my blog posts in a volume, as well, but I don't have much motivation to do it. I can't beat Ed's style, nor Darren's expansive knowledge of zoology. (Plus, I often cringe when I go back to read my own work) I don't think Laelaps would make the blog-to-book transition well, and given my general dissatisfaction with my own work, picking out entries for a "best of" collection would quickly grind to a halt.]

Hmmm... I must admit that the attention this blog has been getting as of late has left me astonished (when I first started writing I wondered if anyone would ever read my posts), and Eric of The Primate Diaries has given my ego another boost by bestowing The Intellectual Blogger Award upon me (…
...then I need your help. Yesterday, after being inspired by the announcement of Ed's book, I broached the concept of there being a "best of" Laelaps collection. A few of you have voiced your encouragement, and I am definitely considering producing a collection of my work in print form. I'm…
Back in November I mentioned that I might possibly follow in Ed's footsteps and put together a "Best of Laelaps" collection. The only problem was that it was difficult to pick out posts I was proud of; I didn't want to put out an embarrassing collection of slapdash essays. By the beginning of…
Neat-o. The ScienceBlogs conglomerate came up with a great idea that is now being implemented: a RSS feed of the most interesting Sb posts as selected by so-called SuperReaders. http://feeds.delicious.com/rss/SbReaderClub Each blog submitted for approval two representative readers who would…

I can already think of some posts I'd include in such a book if I were putting it together. In fact, you could hire me to put it together, although it might take awhile, with grad school and all. But I'd do it!
