Although the act lasts only a minute or two at most, lions mate up to 100 times a day during the breeding season. That's a serious undertaking - once every 15 min or so.

Sometimes the little things mean a lot. I normally get out of bed around 6:00 AM. In the foothills of the Adirondacks in mid June, this means that the sky has been light for an hour. I like this. For whatever reason, my brain just doesn't want to fully engage in the morning when it's dark out. This…
One of the cowboy science teams (or cowgirl science team – see photo) that I was able to spend some time with at McMurdo Station is the Weddell Seal Research Team under the direction of Dr. Jenn Burns of the University of Alaska. This multi-faceted science team spends virtually every single day…
The National Evolutionary Synthesis Center is holding a contest - $750 towards attending SciOnline 2010 for two bloggers who write exceptional evolutionary blog posts in 2009. Living in Hawaii, it's tough to afford the round trip to North Carolina all by me onesies, so here's my attempt at getting…
Female Snow Leopard twins born last year at the Bronx Zoo. When I initially started posting pictures on my blog, I didn't know if anyone would have anything to say about my pictures. I frequent zoos, museums, and aquariums, usually shooting between 200 and 600 shots per trip, the handful of good…

Reminds me of a trip that Harry Truman and his wife Bess made to a chicken farm. When the guide told Mrs. Truman that Roosters performed their "duties" over a hundred times a day she remarked "Please inform Mr. Truman of that fact".

When told the information Mr. Truman inquired "With the same chicken?" When the guide said no Mr truman repied "Please inform Mrs. Truman of that fact".

Cool pics.

Looking forward to more updates from you. Beautiful feline pictures. Any impacts on the mating habits of cats from climate change?

Beautiful photos. (The ones of the cats are pretty good too)

I like to paint wildlife as a hobby and do it from my own photos of cats (bobcat, mountain lion, and african lion) -- though I took my photos at a game farm and zoo. Not quite the same as in the "wild", but then again, I am free to create any background I like (I have my artistic license, you know.)
