Boulder and Denver Talks

I'm out here in the Rockies, speaking Sunday night at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and then on Monday night at the Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver. More info on both talks can be found here. The Sunday talk was prominently written up in the Boulder Daily Camera (in the "Religion" section, of all places). It will be an official "Darwin Day" speech, hosted by the Boulder International Humanist Institute, and I plan to include some special remarks about what Charles Darwin means to me. So, I hope anyone in the Denver area who's interested will try to come on out for one of these talks....

The first leg of the Storm World tour ended Saturday, with my best attended event yet--close to 100 people at Politics and Prose. Looks like Harry Potter and I have different audiences after all. Now, for the second leg, I begin to whip out the PowerPoint presentation (once, at least). I'm off to…
This: Is a picture of Phoenix landing on Mars, taken from above. One always wonders where the camera operator is during these things.... PASADENA, Calif. -- A telescopic camera in orbit around Mars caught a view of NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander suspended from its parachute during the lander's…
I just got done with a great event at the National Center for Atmospheric Research here in Boulder, CO. I would estimate that 140 people attended, and I gave a talk that combined elements of my bookstore presentation on Storm World with a PowerPoint show and a number of Nisbet-Mooney slides and…
Last Monday marked 17 years since Eric Young led off the first Colorado Rockies baseball game with a home run that triggered a collective, mile-high orgasm for the 80,227 spectators gathered in the old Denver football stadium. The advent of the expansion Rockies also launched a Pharmboy laboratory…

Hansen has spoken up again at NOAA, on climate science being suppressed; it made the Washington Post.

Since I live in Boulder, assuming I don't forget, don't be surprised if I show up at your talk in Boulder. (On the other hand, don't be entirely surprised if I forget; on my part, I won't be surprised if you Don't Care. :-))

One thing: the Camera says your talk is at 6:30 p.m.; your tour page says 6 p.m. Can you clarify?

Pretty sure it's one of those things where people mill about, there's a reception, etc, and then I actually start talking at 6:30.

i don't recall you saying anything about what charles darwin means to you.. maybe you'll do it tomorrow.. i was a little put off by the twenty minute intro speech.. yours was good though.. i have a couple questions and ideas i'm going to email you..

Suffice it to say that, due to unexpected aspects of the format of the event, I decided to ditch my long Darwin intro. Will be publishing it to the blog shortly.
