Hey, Grrl, think you put in the wrong questions. I definitely wouldn't consider this bird's bill recurved. Beautiful shot, though.
Agreed - the picture is a female yellow warbler and I would guess that you're talking about an avocet
Tim: female? It looks OK for a male to me. But I live in the Southwest, where the males are pretty sparsely streaked.

I think you're right, Pete, this appears to be a male. Females should have a greenish-yellow forecrown. The golden yellow on this bird's forehead and crown suggest male.

It's yellow, so it must be a Ducky rubbery, usually found in bathtubs.
