Female great-tailed grackle. Dark crown, pale iris.
I happen to like grackles. The local common grackles are all fired up for spring, the males puffing up to impress the ladies and strutting about with their beaks to the sky, eying their rivals.
Mexican (boat-tailed?) grackle. Look at the size of the tail!
Also, birds like this are all over my back yard, ignoring strutting male Boat-tailed grackles. Unless there is a massive amount of inter-species courtship going on ... this must ba a female/
