Well, maybe this time it is a mourning dove. I know from personal experience that they do leave dusty/oily smudges on windows.

I wish I had taken a picture of the dove-print.

Whatever it is they do make things that can aid in stopping bird window strikes. Someone needs to get some for this and other places to prevent this kind of thing from happening. I have ultraviolet stickers over my unscreened windows and they help out dramatically.
