Nam et ipsa scientia potestas est (And thus knowledge itself is power)
-- Sir Francis Bacon.
Since Tangled Bank has gone the way of the Dodo (Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet, Ivory-Billed Woodpecker -- insert the name of your favorite extinct species here) and will probably never be seen again, despite promises to the contrary, there is a huge hole in the science writing blogosphere. A hole that must be filled. So I am proposing to do just that: I am starting a new science blog carnival, Scientia, which will be be THE science blog writing carnival.
The purpose of this new blog carnival is to provide a public platform that celebrates the best science writing for the public that has been published recently in the blogosphere, just as Tangled Bank has done for years. The topics will include basic and applied sciences; from physics, chemistry and biology to pharmacology and medicine. Scientia will be published on Mondays of the first and third week of each month, starting in April.
Just to get things started, I will host the first edition or two of this blog carnival while it gains some publicity and momentum. Of course, I am seeking publicity, submissions and hosts for upcoming editions of this blog carnival and I also welcome your Scientia logos for advertising and publicity purposes, and even a 500-pixel wide Scientia banner and other images (perhaps one for each category?) that hosts might wish to use to promote and decorate their editions of Scientia.
To send submissions to Scientia, either use this automated submission form or send it directly to ScientiaBlogCarnival at gmail. Be sure to include the URL or "permalink", the essay title and a brief summary.
