I believe it's a Leconte's Sparrow, one of my favorites! Colorful little sparrows with the orangish hue on the face and orange-buffy wash elsewhere, with a strong crown stripe. Similar to Nelson's Sharp-tailed, except that species lacks the purplish fine streaking on the gray nape, and has a gray crown stripe as opposed to the white crown stripe of a LeConte's.
After checking the field guide, I agree: Le Conte's Sparrow.
I've never been much of a sparrow fan, but I find them growing on me.
Yes, this is a LeConte's Sparrow for the reasons Terry Sohl provided.
