Don't Forget BirdNote This Holiday Season

In these difficult economic times, it is unusual to get something for nothing. However, there is one thing that you can get for free: BirdNote. BirdNote is a 2-minute radio program that combines the rich sounds of birds into stories that illustrate the intriguing and sometimes truly amazing ways of birds. BirdNote premiered in February 2005 and runs seven days per week on a roughly a half dozen National Public Radio stations. For years, I have advertised BirdNote in Birds in the News because I strongly believe in their mission, and now, I am pleased to tell you that BirdNote has an online store where you can support this worthy radio program by purchasing either a calendar or a t-shirt.

Adam Sedgly, the marketing and outreach director for BirdNote, recently sent me one of their calendars and it is absolutely gorgeous. This calendar features the photography of Paul Bannick, whose book, The Owl and the Woodpecker, I reviewed on my blog recently [my review]. It is printed on heavy paper and is filled with more of Paul's stunning bird images -- every one suitable for framing. This calendar features the best bird images of any calendar that you will find offered anywhere in the country this year (and yes, I have seen them all!) and better yet, sales of these calendars (and their t-shirts) support a very worthy project: BirdNote.
