When I was in Seattle, several friends and I visited the Ballard Farmer's Market (part one and part two) in the morning and then went wine tasting at a nearby wine bar in the afternoon.

I was so fascinated by the Ballard Farmer's Market that Shannon could barely rip me (and my camera!) away. But the promise of free wine did the trick.

We walked down the street and went into a wine bar where Shannon knows a lot of people, and we sampled their wines, enjoyed interesting conversation.

If you look behind the owner, you see wooden racks holding literally thousands of wines.

Wines. Thousands of wines.

As you can see, they sell thousands of wines here, but this very photogenic place was more than a wine store; it is also a very classy wine bar.

Seattle is really coming into its own with regards to style. It makes me miss my hometown even more -- if that's possible!

Anyway, after the wine tasting, Shannon decided to make a fancy dinner using the produce she purchased at the Farmer's Market and the wine that she purchased at this wine bar. I'll show you a few highlights of that dinner tomorrow.

I love my Seattle farmer's markets! I'll stop by Ballard's (on Sunday) if I miss miss my U-District market (on Saturday). It's so easy to drop a few hundred dollars when we go - young goat, fresh made mozzeralla balls, locally made hard cider or raspberry wine plus the addition of our own food from our 600+ square foot p-patch. The food is way too good. I'm surprised you didn't run into Dave Matthews in Ballard. :P
