Do you remember the film that I linked a long time ago, A Flock of Dodos: The Evolution-Intelligent Design Circus? I am pleased to see that this film, by producer and former biologist, Randy Olson, is receiving quite a bit of media attention after its recent debut in the Tribeca Film Festival here in NYC.
This film takes a humorous look at so-called "intelligent design," a school of thought that claims many of the seemingly miraculous and complex elements of nature must be the work of an intelligent designer (er, God).
Consistent with the card-playing theme of the film, Olson says that scientists squandered their "winning hand" with their inability or unwillingness to engage in the debate with creationists and IDists. His goal is to show filmgoers there's little scientific challenge to the theory of evolution, while also entertaining them. Having seen the film trailers myself, I think he accomplishes these goals, but I have to see the entire film before I'll place any bets on that.
The film is 84 minutes long. Door sales are $12 per seat and there still are several showings remaining (would anyone like to accompany me*?);
Sunday, 7 May, 400 pm, Loews Village VII 1
*Friday, 5 May, 600 pm, Loews Lincoln Square 2
Monday, 1 May, 300 pm, Loews 34th street 9
Sunday, 30 April, 830pm, Loews Village VII 3
Hopefully, the reception by audiences at the Tribeca Film Festival will help this find a distributor so it is more widely available.
Thanks, Dawn!

I've been watching their website for at least 6 months and still no dvd release. Argh! Would it kill them to release a dvd?
Is there info anywhere about screenings in other cities? I'd love to catch it, but am on the other coast, unfortunately. The website didn't seem to have much information about where/when to see it, aside from at Tribeca.
Thanks.
