Remember those old Speak & Spells in the 80s, the ones made by Texas Instruments? Well, that and Simon were probably my favorite games as a kid (oh, and Rubix cube). There's actually a cool Speak & Spell emulater on the web that I came across, check it out and enjoy the 'say it' feature.…

Here's a post by a friend of his.

Your group, bio/physical anthropologists, has been accused of grave robbing, by indigenous peoples Do you deny or admit to this charge? Men, women, and children were buried in religious belief to honor them. Then anthropologists dishonored these peoples and their cultures. Do you deny or admit you violated their sacred beliefs?
Think.
I've done some things I regret. Some under "experts, some on my own.
Is anthropogenic CO2 going to cause draught? And also floods?
Too little rain, and too much rain. In the old days, men devised schemes to deal with both, such as dams and levees. Which is to say, droughts and floods were recognized, and means of dealing with them were devised.
Humans canon devise perfect solutions. I lived in San Diego. I went outside 12 months of the year, in shorts, with a sweater at night in the winter. It took stealing water from the Colorado River, devastating the Colorado Delta fish nurseries.
So, Greg, you would agree, blow up Hoover/ Boulder Dam, Glen Canyon Dam, stop the damned water flow to Los Angeles, San Diego , Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
My father was a USFWS biologist. My early childhood was living on a National Wildlife Refuge.

Quite a few important native sites, including sacred sites, have been buried by those dams.
Personally I've not done an graver robbing, and for decades now anthropologists have worked closely with indigenous groups to properly address cultural patrimony. I have done a fair amount of work in that area by the way.
Human greenhouse gas pollution has already caused droughts and floods. There will be more.
Otherwise, I really can't figure out what you are talking about. But do feel free to clarify.
Either Mark is saying that since bad things have been done in the past for science we don't shouldn't do anything now as an attempt to head off problems from climate change (because ?), or he's spewing more of his asinine free flow stream of stupidity.
I'm voting for the latter.
Wow, now there's some presience. I hadn't seen that clip before. Any idea if the rest is available somewhere, Greg?
*prescience*
Although by no means pre-science in this case!
No idea. Not sure it is prescience, though. Just science. Not much that is happening now or that is predicted for the medium or longer term future was not already expected by the smart people many decades ago.
Google defs has prescient as "having or showing knowledge of events before they take place," so that works.
There's this complementary piece also. Sounds like Peter might have the whole thing.
From the timing, the doc seems to have been triggered by Hansen's 1988 Senate testimony.
