Ear wax table

I've been getting queries about the ear wax paper...below the fold I've copied table 1, which shows the frequencies of the haplotypes in various populations.

It's hard sometimes when you're out of synch with the rest of the world. While my fellow ScienceBloggers have been obsessing about breasts, I've been really amused by the genetics of ear wax. Eh, what's that you say? Yes, it's true. Back in March, when Nature Genetics published this paper from…
Life can be really funny. When I was in college I was incorrigibly curious and I asked a Korean American friend if his ear wax was dry (I'd read that East Asians had dry ear wax once) and his response was, "Isn't everybody's?" When it comes to interpersonal differences there are many things we…
I post some data analysis over at my other weblog. For example, today I looked at the relationship between food stamp usage and unemployment. The Census makes a lot of county-level data available, though it's often slapdash and disorganized. But using R I've constructed many data sets including…

Means I have some genes from somewhere east of the European subcontinent. Europeans overall only are 3 percent dry earwax. It's a trait that originated in the northeast of Asia. Koreans and Northern Han Chinese have 100 percent dry earwax. I've got to say, it's irritating to have, but I've learned that East Asian people use their own little device for getting the stuff off. I've never seen one myself, but I should really seek it out in a Chinese neighborhood.
