DonorsChoose Blogger Challenge 2008: progress toward big incentives.

What would the Blogger Challenge be without hand-drawn bar-graphs?

You'll see that Chad is about 80% of the way to a "monkey dance". In less than $1300 in contributions to his challenge, he will be dancing for the amusement of his readers.

As for the big incentives I'm offering, my challenge has received a mere 10% of the $4000 goal that will result in my adorning my left ankular region with a philosophy of science tattoo. The overall ScienceBlogs donations (currently creeping up toward $16,000) put us a little closer (about 17% of the way) to the $90,000 threshold for my getting the Sb logo tattooed on the nape of my neck.

My mom will be thrilled. The kids in the classrooms with unfunded projects, maybe not so much.

Speaking of unfunded challenges, readers rallied earlier this week to fund a challenge that was about to expire. I need to call on your awesomeness again to fund a proposal in the Dispatches from the Culture Wars challenge that will expire today: Say Cheese! Digital Camera for High School Newspaper. A teacher in a high poverty classroom in Mississippi needs to raise $245 more to fund digital cameras for her high school journalism class. If that money doesn't get raised today, the project won't happen.

Thanks!

In the last 22.5 days, ScienceBloggers and their generous readers have: Mounted twenty challenges to fund educational projects through DonorsChoose. Met (and exceeded!) the targets in five of those challenges (for which I issue a heartfelt "w00t!" to the readers of Retrospectacle, Deep Sea News,…
We're in the last hour of week one of Blogger Challenge 2008, and ScienceBlogs readers have already donated a respectable $8,999 to public school projects. Yay ScienceBlogs readers! You know I'm offering you enticements to donate to my challenge, but tonight I want to point out some proposals in…
At Uncertain Principles, Chad is motivating his readers to donate to his DonorsChoose challenge by offering a big reward: Last year, I famously got $6,000 in contributions by offering to dance like a monkey, but I'm not sure what would follow that. So, What should I offer to do if I manage to…

I'm happy to accept nominations for a sufficiently motivating act of sheer foolishness.

Hmm. Learning to walk on your hands? :)

Mostly just posting to check that my email had made it through the gmail spam filters?...
