HB 1326, aka 'Politicians against baby murder and for hot pancakes' was vetoed by Gov. Henry last night. This morning the House voted to override the veto 68-26... But the override only got 26 votes in the Senate. They needed 32.
So us evil Nazi scientists can officially "KILL TEH BAAAAABBYS!" in OK, and I wont be getting a misdemeanor for infanticide this year.

Lisa Billy is concerned that scientists are now going to roam dark alleys, preying on 'poor minority women' to get their eggs for money.
Ignoring the fact she just accused the scientific community of being racist predators, she really thinks this is how scientists think:

There are lots natives (in Canada at least, not sure about the States) who are christian. We actually had some Inuit trying to have Christian style creationism taught in their schools. To me that is just crazy, especially when there are so many better creation myths from aboriginal traditions. Creation rests on the backs of turtles - hello! - how cool is that? Anyway I guess the missionaries and residential schools were effective at indoctrination, if not at assimilation.

The battle is far from over. According to Oklahoma Senate rules, the Senate Leader (Republican; voted for ban) can reinitiate a veto override AS MANY TIMES as they need to until the end of the legislative period in May of next year. Since they were 6 Senators short, I bet you they will keep trying until they get the magic number. I wouldn't be surprised they'll be sneaky and try it when a lot of Democrat senators are out of town or after intense pressure on their Republican peers.
