Alright, there has been some complaints that the last few MVPs have been too easy, so I tried to reach back and find one that might be more of a challenge for you all. Maybe this photo will do the trick ...

I guess that the antivaccinationists didn't listen to me last time when I suggested that maybe—just maybe—using Holocaust analogies when discussing autism and vaccines is just a wee bit inappropriate, such an overblown analogy that it spreads far more heat than light. At least, Kent Heckenlively…
Hmm. I seem to remember this thing called blogging...used to do it all the time...lo these many weeks ago. Let's see if I'm able to get started again.
The past month and a half I've been taking care of mom and working with my siblings to arrange everything for her to move into assisted living.…
Alright, folks, so last week I got this letter from a very good magician and television producer Anthony Owen from Objective Productions, the company partnered with Discovery Channel to make Dangerman in London:
Thank you for your recent email application for Dangerman.
If you are still…
Kean University Graduates 2012
At my Commencement Speech to the Class of 2012 at Carteret High School this Thursday, I will deliver something like this:
Class of 2012: You need to fail more …. take chances …. Reach.
Let me explain.
After hearing my bio, some of you might think of that person…
Ararat?
Definitely not too easy this time, Erik. I'm stumped, but I'm going to guess Bazman in Iran.
.. or possibly Mr. Damavand also in Iran.
Just a wild random stab in the dark...im gonna go for Ubinas in Peru :S
Not sure but it does have a look of Mount Teide on Tenerife in the Canary Islands....
Tacora in Chile
Looks like Mt. St. Helens circa late April or early May, 1980.
Also looks a lot like Mt. Adams (minus the glaciers, so not a good guess).
Is it Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica?
Then again, it could be Misti in Peru.
Not easy indeed... Volcán Ollagüe?
Lascar?
Mount Zuqualla?
I think Ollagüe in Bolivia, but I miss to see the fumarolic activity. But South-America is very likely!
There looks to be some fumarolic activity in the MVP-volcano, just above what I think is Ollagüe's dome.
Congrats, Gijs, you got it back at #9. This is indeed Ollague on the Chilean/Bolivian border. I took this photo from the platform of lava to the south of Volcan Pabellon and north of Volcan Chela (both to the west of Ollague) in November of 2000. Glad this photo was a bit more of a challenge.
Mt Lassen California
~4.5 Ma flows from (the loosely named) Cerro Rojo in foreground.
I was going to guess somewhere in the central-southern Andes, but I had no hope of pinning it down any further. I remember Peter Francis' *Volcanoes* had a lot of photos from the Bolivian/Chilean Andes and this volcano has that 'feel'. Most regions are dissimilar like that :-)
There is something on the chilean volcanoes that you can recognize them immediatly in the photo. It's funny to read about St. Helens or Adams when you can view clearly the extreme dry conditions of the Atacama Desert in the picture.
Don't mind me, just testing some commenting stuff.
it reminds me of Lascar, Chile.
great blog!!! greetings and compliments from an italian student
What is the purpose of this page if you don't mind me asking?
