Tony Snow's Job Description

I thought this was quite funny. At the beginning of his daily press briefing yesterday, Tony Snow said the following:

"I know a lot of you are going to want to hear all sorts of comments about what's going on on Capitol Hill," said Snow. "I will tell you what we have to say, and then you can ask whatever questions you want, and I will be maddeningly but consistently non-responsive beyond what you are about to hear, which is that the president's made it absolutely clear that the behavior that has been reported on the part of former Representative Mark Foley is disgusting and unacceptable."

"I will be maddeningly and consistently non-responsive" is the definitive job description for a press secretary.

Okay, did anyone else see the White House's fake "conversation" between Bush and the troops? It was absolutely brutal. I know that all presidental appearances are well choreographed, but for crying out loud this thing was so badly done that it was embarrassing to watch. There needs to be a word for…
Is someone in the White House Press Corps reading this blog, and in particular, did someone in the press corps read this entry? If you read the following exchange from the gaggle yesterday, you have to wonder... Q And also, the White House yesterday issued an open letter on climate change -- MR.…
It is rare that I find myself at a loss for words. Anyone who knows me can tell you that. Right now, though, I'm having a very, very hard time coming up with family-friendly language that covers the way I feel about President Bush right now. Why? Because I just saw that half-witted, sneering little…
Am I the only one who finds this whole Gannon/Guckert situation hilarious? I can't imagine I am. I mean, on how many levels could one person and one situation be simultaneously ridiculous? Let's count them. Gannon/Guckert himself. How pathetic is this guy? First of all, the gay escort personal ads…

The only thing Snow has going for him(to me) is that I don't feel like I want to punch him in the face when I see him. I always wanted to punch Scott McClellan. He just had that look to him.

At least Scott McClellan had a shred of legitimacy. When Snow jumped tracks from corporate propaganda to official obfuscation, we knew only his job title had changed.

What did McClellan do before his job as "Guy who refuses to answer the press's questions"?

The difference between Tony Snow and Scott McClellan is that Snow can spew utter nonsense with a wink and a smile, while McClellen got that deer in the headlights look. Snow is simply better at lying than McClellan was. His personal charm makes you less liable to question the bullshit. Which makes him very good at his job but a lousy human being.

I think you've pretty much defined 90% of politicians.
