NSA Talking Points = Propaganda

Raw Story has acquired a set of talking points that the NSA gave to members of the Senate Intelligence Committee to guide them in their press interactions.

Some of the talking points urge Senators to imply that they have personal knowledge of plots foiled by the wiretap program, or that the Senators--seven of whom responded by writing the NSA a letter blasting the move--had other personal knowledge that the program was legal or necessary.

"I have personally met the dedicated men and women of the NSA," one point reads. "The country owes them an enormous debt of gratitude for their superb efforts to keep us all secure."

"It has detected plots," reads another, "that could have resulted in death or injury to Americans both at home and abroad." No examples are given in the document.

Truth, as they say, is the first casualty of war.

I don't see what the problem is. I mean screw education or anything else that might be percieved as worthwhile tax expenditure - who wouldn't want the government wasting time and tax dollars propagandising the American people. All hail the supreme leader. . .

I can't believe a technical agency, which is what the NSA is, would ever try to lobby Congress in such a blatant manner. The seven senators who blasted the agency for such behavior were absolutely right.
