Okay, more like the exhausted return. We had a great time last night. Mickey is always a fabulous host for these semi-annual parties (though I think I'm gonna do one here this summer sometime and make a weekend of it, complete with lots of ribs in the smoker), if for no other reason than he always manages to lose lots of money to us at poker and pay for the gas it costs to make it to his house. He even had a huge list of songs from the 80s going on his Ipod, which brought back lots of memories. We went to the Moose Preserve for dinner, then 6 of us played poker until about 4 am.
The trip back today turned into a nightmare. I started back the way I'd gone, but there was a huge accident shutting down the turnoff from an extremely busy north-south highway to an extremely busy east-west highway (which was already under construction as well). After sitting at a virtual standstill for about an hour, going maybe one mile in that time, I managed to get off the highway, turn back east and north, go all the way up through Auburn Hills (thankfully about an hour before traffic there would have been crazy because of the Pistons game), then down through Pontiac and Howell. It was quite a circuitous route, but that was pretty much the only way to keep moving. I was half expecting to get a piece of cheese when I finally made it out of that mess. But I'm home now and ready to sleep until about Wednesday.
