More Christian Charity at Work

Wiley Bennett, pastor of Woodland Hill Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, welcomed Katrina evacuees into his community with these words on the message sign in front of his church: "The Big Easy is the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah."

I'm sure Jesus would be proud. (link)

To be fair, one must note that there are thousands of good Christian people (as well as many non-Christians) working diligently to help the people devestated by the hurricane and the churches have done a great deal of fundraising and hard work to help those in need. Check out the latest on Hurricane Rita. It looks Tyler might be right in its path. I wonder how Wiley's going to explain that one.

Recall "Diamond" Pat Robertson's glee at the hurricane that was barreling down on Orlando a few years ago? He blamed it on Gay Days at Disney World. The irony is that the hurricane changed course and was diverted to his compound at Virginia Beach, VA, a few miles north.
