Obama and the Eating of Jellyfish in Outer Space

The people of Obama are selling jellyfish candy.  Really.

The photo shows a diver next to a specimen of Nomura's jellyfish, href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomura%27s_jellyfish">Nemopilema
nomurai.  These creatures occasionally href="http://scienceblogs.com/guiltyplanet/2009/07/another_year_another_giant_jel.php">swarm
off the coast of Japan, where they are a nuisance.  Some
creative souls have responded by href="http://scienceblogs.com/shiftingbaselines/2008/02/more_jellies_fill_your_belly.php">finding
ways to eat them. 



Now, schoolkids in the Japanese town of Obama are capitalizing on
this.  As it happens, there is a bit of a fad there, for caramel
candies.  The school has taken to mixing jellyfish power into the
candy.  Then, they elevated their marketing, literally into outer
space:

The Obama students aren't content with just producing a a
jellyfish caramel treat. The high schoolers have also requested that
the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) put the caramels on the
menu for astronauts journeying to the International Space Station,
presumably in a bid to raise awareness of their tasty solution to the
jellyfish problem.
