Mitt Romney's national finance committee (ex-) co-chairman,
title="Forbes article"
href="http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/08/09/ap4006058.html"
rel="tag">Alan Fabian,
is in trouble. He's been indicted for mail fraud, money
laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury and obstruction of justice.
Of course, he is innocent until proven guilty. The story
here, as
href="http://mediamatters.org/items/200709010002?f=h_latest">Media
Matters points out,
is that the problems with a donor to the Hillary Clinton campaign have
been aired repeatedly on all the major networks. The problems
with the
rel="tag">Mitt Romney campaign have earned not a
single mention on the networks that could be found on the Lexis search
service.
Even the Forbes article, inked above, does not
mention his
connection to the Romney campaign. They do make note of the
seriousness of the allegations:
At a news conference, U.S. Attorney Rod J.
Rosenstein
called it one of the largest monetary theft cases ever prosecuted in
Maryland.
The
href="http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/md/Public-Affairs/press_releases/press07/AlanFabianIndictedin32MillionComputerEquipmentLeasingScheme.htm">DOJ
news brief
does not mention the Romney connection either. In the
interest of
fairness, I note that the alleged crimes took place from 2001 to 2004,
before the Romney campaign began. I'll mention also that
Fabian
was a
rel="tag">Bush Pioneer, and that he has donated to
the
rel="tag">Rudy Giuliani campaign, among others.
As Media Matters points out, the real question in all of this, is why
are the broadcast media so focused on Hillary Clinton? I'm no
fan
of Hillary, but she does deserve equal treatment.
