alarms

nothing like 7 am fire alarms to get people awake, especially on top of tall buildings, and since the last hotel fire alarm, at a conference, that I experienced was because the hotel was actually on fire, that got me going.

So, "small earthquake in Hawaii" - 5.4 is respectable, are the 'scopes ok?!

Oh, and how are, like, the various people and stuff doing?

No fire here, just some workman doing tests, guess he figured since he had to be up, everyone else could damn well be up. (Last time it was just a laundry room fire - barely enough to stink up the hotel and keep us out half the night, in the rain.)

Seriously - everything on the mountain ought to be able to ride out mag 5 earthquakes, but if anyonehears to the contrary, let us know.
Well, after Hurricane Flossie passes by, anyway.

The follow-up to Amsterdam and Brighton part 1. Again, if you lack interest in running, the answer is 3:54.28. The photo is me and James Edgoose after the finish. By this point we've gone through the phases of collapsed in a heap for a bit, drunk some water, eaten a banana, just about got up,…

Maybe it's my inner-nerd breaking through here, but anytime I here about an earthquake, I think the same thing. What do they do in California?

I have not heard anything. Last time, I got email immediately. Poor Keck I, it is still not the same.

Flossie looks like it will shut down observing for tonight, but is going to miss the islands, thank goodness.
