Wes Huntress, Charles Kennel and Eugene Levy are off the NASA Advisory Council science committee.
Kennel resigned, Griffin fires Huntress and Levy.
NASAwatch has little more.
This is interesting and bad. The NASA advisory committee structure is already in tatters, and these people had clout in the scientific community.
Something bad is going on.

The below-the-fold note was seen on WIRED. It's a plea to prevent political interference from continuing to demolish the scientifically worthwhile aspects of the NASA program, in favour of the bread and circuses smell to the lunar base. There's been trouble at NASA lately. A suite of scientists from the agency's National Advisory Council have resigned over the agency's priorities, a dispute which seems to centrally turn on how the president's Moon-Mars plans have taken an emphasis away from purer scientific research. The NAC…
My spies tell me that Griffin may not be the driving force behind this, but rather the chair of the NAC. But my spies freely admit that they are somewhat in the dark.
Schmitt asked for this?
I guess it is really over the Lunar Science, and onlyLunar Science, direction.
Moral dilemma - if you can think of science that could be done ok from the Moon, should you push it? Not the best way, not the cheapest way - but it might be the only way for now.
The price is that the Lunar Science comes out of the Science Directorate budget, not the Exploration Directorate.
Not that Eugene Levy?
