Hitchens' Supreme Sense of Humor

I concede. As self-deprecatory as I can be, I am left in the dust, gasping and quivering, by the mighty Christopher Hitchens who aptly displays the gloriously superior sense of humor that is characteristic of the human male. I am humbled, Mr. Hitchens. My hat's off to you.

In the latest Vanity Fair, Hitchens writes about his experience at the spa of the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, CA: On the Limits of Self-Improvement, Part I.

It's an entertaining - and funny - article on the micro-economy of self-improvement. Be sure to check out the slide show!

Morally-challenged Attorney General Michael Mukasey can't figure out whether waterboarding is torture or not -- he seems to think it is an open question -- but there is nothing stopping him from following the example of fellowdoubter Christopher Hitchens. This is not going to be an "all debate, all the time" blog, but readers have sent me a few accounts of recent skirmishes, so I'll toss 'em up here. This one is a description of a debate between the ferocious Mr Hitchens and that smooshy gooey feel-good rabbi, Shmuley Boteach. It's like pitting a…

The pictures are hysterical. Thanks!

I especially like Hitchens' hilarious send-up of a pseudo-intellectual supporter of the Iraq war! It's positively Colbertian to hear this pompous propagandist send up the Condoleeza Rice theories that the Iraq invasion is a war Americans can be proud of! Yes, I'm so proud of leaving a country in ruins! Yes I'm so proud of killing -- well, no one knows how many, but a recent survey puts it as high as 1,000,000 Iraqi deaths by violence since the beginning of the war (based on surveys of Iraqi families, but maybe the total is rally only 1/4 of that). Thanks Christopher Hitchens for your brilliant work satirizing our new imperialists and their disastrous follies.
